Bitterman Residence
ORLANDO, FLA.
This home’s owner wanted a metal roof installed for its wind-uplift resistance; he also wanted it to be “the last roof we put on this house.” Petersen Aluminum, Elk Grove Village, Ill., manufactured 12,000 square feet (1115 m2) of SNAP-CLAD Panels for the roof, which replaced existing wood-shake shingles that had sustained significant damage. SNAPCLAD was chosen for its Florida Product Approval and copper-penny color. The panels are 16 inches (406 mm) wide and 24-gauge G-90 galvanized steel. About 4,000 square feet (372 m2) of PAC-CLAD flat stock was used for flashings and gutters. RAE Co., Ocala, Fla., served as the roofing contractor.
