Big Ass Fans, Lexington, Ky., recently received LEED Gold certification from the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council. The award recognizes Big Ass Fans’ new 45,000-square-foot R&D Facility. The facility uses 35 percent less energy and 60 percent less water than a standard commercial building. The award was presented at a USGBC Green Scene event at the facility and included informative tours of the space. Members of the Kentucky cabinet who attended included finance and administration cabinet secretary Jonathan Miller and energy and environment cabinet deputy secretary Hank List.
